Adult illustrative model for skincare education

Dryness, breakouts, uneven tone and unwanted hair need different care. At NuSelf in Cedar Park, custom facials, chemical peels, dermaplaning and waxing start with understanding your skin and your goals.

Start with what your skin needs

A face that feels tight can also have clogged pores. Dark marks may follow acne, sun exposure or melasma. We consider the cause, your skin tone and sensitivity before choosing treatment. Tell us what has helped, what has irritated your skin and whether you are preparing for an event.

Bring your product and medication list, including retinol, prescription retinoids and isotretinoin. We also review recent procedures, tanning, allergies, cold sores and any tendency to develop dark marks or scars. Sometimes the right first step is calming irritation or arranging medical assessment before an aesthetic treatment.

A custom facial with a clear purpose

For dry or easily irritated skin, the focus can be gentle cleansing and moisture, with exfoliation reduced or left out. For congestion, we consider careful exfoliation and extractions where appropriate. For dullness and uneven surface texture, we select a level of exfoliation your skin can tolerate. These are different ways to tailor a facial, with the products and steps agreed after assessment.

You should leave knowing what the visit was intended to improve and how to care for your skin afterward. Persistent acne or pigment changes may need a broader treatment plan. HydraFacial Syndeo has its own page, including Signature, Deluxe, Platinum and Perk options.

Choosing a peel for tone, texture or breakouts

Chemical peels use a controlled solution to exfoliate skin. NuSelf offers VI Peel and a lower-downtime option. We choose the peel depth and formula around your concern, skin and recovery window.

We confirm the exact VI Peel formula available and appropriate for you before treatment. Across the manufacturer’s range, Original addresses overall tone and rough texture, and Advanced targets more established fine lines and aging-related texture. Purify focuses on acne-prone, oily or congested skin. The current Precision + Peptides formula targets discoloration, including sun-related pigmentation and selected melasma concerns. Purify with Precision + Peptides addresses the combination of breakouts and post-acne discoloration. The formulations serve different purposes, so matching the concern matters.

The option called No Downtime Peel is intended for a lighter recovery commitment. We explain its product, ingredients and likely response before you choose it. Redness, sensitivity or flaking may occur.

Dermaplaning for a smoother surface

Dermaplaning gently passes a sterile blade over suitable facial skin to lift superficial dead cells and fine peach fuzz. It can make skin feel smoother and help makeup sit more evenly. You may notice light scraping, followed by temporary sensitivity or redness.

We avoid inflamed acne, open skin and active irritation. Dermaplaning may be considered on its own or alongside a suitable facial, but adding it to a peel requires a specific plan. Fine hair grows back with its usual texture.

Waxing planned around your skin

Waxing removes hair from the root for temporary smoothness. Facial care includes brows, cheeks, lip and full face, with suitable external ear and nose areas assessed separately. Body options include underarms, arms, abdomen, chest, back, half or full legs, bikini and Brazilian waxing. We discuss the exact area and your preferences before starting.

Expect brief pulling or stinging and possible redness afterward. Retinoids, recent peels and sunburn can leave skin vulnerable to lifting or injury. Tell us about them when booking so we can choose a safer interval. Hair inside the ear canal or deep within the nose should not be waxed.

Know what will happen before we begin

We review your skin, explain the proposed treatment and confirm the time, cost and recovery expectations. A small waxing area needs a different appointment from a facial or peel. You can ask questions or change your mind before proceeding.

During treatment, let your provider know about discomfort. A facial may involve cleansing, selected exfoliation, extractions and finishing products. A peel may feel warm or tingly as the solution is applied. Increasing burning needs attention. Before you leave, we explain cleansing, sun protection and when to restart your usual products.

Make room for recovery and everyday care

A gentle facial or waxing visit may leave short-lived redness. VI Peel commonly brings visible peeling over several days, often starting around days two to three and easing during the first week. Individual recovery varies, so plan ahead of photographs, travel or a special occasion.

Follow the instructions for your specific treatment. Let peeling skin shed naturally, avoid extra scrubs or acids while healing and use the recommended moisturizer and sun protection. Contact NuSelf for worsening pain, blistering, spreading redness or unexpected skin changes.

Once skin has recovered, a manageable home routine helps maintain results. We review your response before suggesting another visit or a spaced series. Skin continues to change, so the plan can change with it.

Before your visit

Questions worth asking.

How do you reduce the chance of a skin reaction?

We match the product, depth and timing to your skin and treatment history. Peels can cause pigment changes and, less commonly, infection or scarring; dermaplaning can cause small cuts or irritation. Careful selection and aftercare matter. Tell us about active irritation, medications and recent treatments before your visit.

Should I book a facial or a peel?

Start with your main concern and how much recovery time you can allow. A facial may suit hydration and surface maintenance; a peel may be considered for selected texture, acne or pigmentation concerns. Your provider helps choose the formula.

Can a peel suit darker skin tones?

Yes, with careful selection and a provider experienced in treating your skin tone. Previous dark marks after irritation matter. We discuss preparation, the risk of uneven pigment and the formula suited to your skin.

Can I combine waxing, dermaplaning and a peel?

Combinations require individual planning because treating the same area several ways can increase irritation and skin injury. Tell us about recent and upcoming appointments so we can decide what belongs together and what needs to be separated.

What if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Tell us before booking so ingredients and treatment suitability can be reviewed. VI Peel is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A gentler service may be considered after reviewing your circumstances.

Do I need a whole new skincare routine?

Usually, the useful starting point is what you already own. Bring the product names. We can identify overlap, irritation and gaps, then explain any recommended change and how it fits around treatment.
